We are truly stronger with you! Read on to learn more.

First, we want to acknowledge our heroes working in service of our mission. As our staff remains in the field during this pandemic, our office staff took a few moments to say thank you to our clinical team members who are serving on the front lines.

We are living in unprecedented times.

As COVID-19 continues to spread, we know there are many challenges we all must overcome, not the least of which is the anxiety and fear that this pandemic has created for us all. This is a time that may at moments appear dark, but it is also a time for heroes among us. We’ve all heard the stories from the frontlines – the hospital workers and first responders who continue to put their own health in jeopardy to help others. We at VNA Community Healthcare & Hospice are, perhaps, forgotten soldiers in this fight.

Why our work matters

Our nurses and other field staff members go into patient homes day in and day out, despite the risks, in order to keep as many people as possible out of the hospitals, not only because that is always in the best interest of our patients – particularly now when the risks of being exposed to COVID-19 are so high – but also so those beds remain free for COVID-19 patients.

It is our population of clients in particular – those with medical conditions, such as heart disease, lung conditions like COPD, and diabetes – who are at the highest risk for severe complications of this disease and we take seriously our responsibility to provide them the highest quality of care.

We are the face of home healthcare and our nonprofit mission has never been more vital.

Why we need your help

We have taken a financial impact as a result of the pandemic, as referrals decline and patients who have less emergent needs opt against having a home healthcare visit to reduce their own potential exposure. This impacts our bottom line, yet our expenses remain high as we forge ahead serving those who do have a critical need.

While the rest of the state is shut down in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19, our nurses stay the course of providing patient care. Nurses like Tracy Iasparra remain devoted to bringing a sense of ease to our patients because, as Tracy says, “I’m thankful that I can be a voice of calm” for them. We are still in the field, caring for the chronically ill and those recovering from illness or necessary surgery and working hard to keep them safe at home.

We’ve had to place all of our community Health and Wellness classes and caregiver support groups on hold to adhere to social distancing recommendations, but we have proved our ability to be nimble by pivoting to virtual support groups and utilizing our text message and email capabilities to communicate with our wellness program participants.

Our operational costs have not changed despite the revenue loss we are experiencing as a result of the pandemic and so we look to our donors to support our mission so we can sustain operations now and be sure we can continue these valuable offerings once life begins to return to normal.

How you can make a difference

We’ve launched a comprehensive campaign – We Are Stronger With You: The Campaign for VNA Community Healthcare & Hospice – in an effort to help defray the costs of the COVID-19 outbreak and we are asking you to consider making a donation to our agency to help us reach our goal of $50,000. Thanks to the generosity of many of our corporate sponsors and a few incredible donors, we are already a third of the way toward our goal. Please help us make it all the way there!

At this time, we encourage to the extent possible that all donations be made online at here as the staff available in our office to process checks is minimal as a result of social distancing efforts. If you do prefer to mail a check, you may mail it to:

Attn: Development Department
VNA Community Healthcare & Hospice
753 Boston Post Rd. Building 2
Guilford, CT 06437

Note: Please put “Stronger With You” in the memo line of the check.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Development Manager, Abigail Storiale at or 203-458-4277.

We know we are stronger with you! We are now, and always, grateful for your support and honored to be the agency you can rely on to be beside you at every turn.

We’d like to thank the Branford Community Foundation and the Guilford Foundation for granting us emergency funds!

We’d also like to thank our corporate sponsors who have helped us launch this campaign!
