Honoring Nurses: 2016 Nightingale Award Winners

VNA Community Healthcare is proud to announce that two of their nurses: Donna Ostroski, RN and Sheila Rubino, RN were awarded the prestigious Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing.

Nightingale 2016

Left to Right: Helen Brown, Sheila Rubino and Donna Ostroski

Donna receives this award in recognition of her commitment, dedication and compassion she shows VNA Community Healthcare’s new patients and their families. Families new to home healthcare are often overwhelmed by the details, but Donna eases their concerns and patiently explains what they should expect.

Sheila has been an integral part of VNA Community Healthcare’s Start of Care team. She is a great teacher and mentor to other nurses in this challenging process. Her ability to explain and explore complex home healthcare goals with patients is inspirational.

VNA Community Healthcare is proud to have both Donna and Sheila on our nursing team.

Strong House Adult Day Center of Madison (our affiliate) is proud to announce that their nurse, Helen Brown, RN, was also awarded a Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing. Helen received this award in recognition of her devotion to her clients, who have memory or physical impairments. In addition, Helen was honored for her unique ability to do the right thing to diffuse any challenging situation. Whether it’s gently re-directing, distracting, or at times, even breaking into a tap dance routine, Helen is able to instill a sense of peace and calm into even the most anxious patient.

Strong House Adult Day Center is proud to have Helen as a member of their staff.
